This gentle face mist is your go-to face toner powered by HOCl, which is naturally produced by the body as part of its defense system.
Why use it as a mist or toner?
As a toner: After cleansing, hold the bottle 20–30cm from your face and spray 2–3 times. Allow to air-dry or gently pat dry. Follow with serum and moisturiser. The HOCl acts in the first 30 seconds of contact — you do not need to leave it on longer.
As a makeup setter: After applying your full makeup look, close your eyes and spray the face mist lightly to set. The fine mist delivers an even, non-streaky finish that does not disturb powder or foundation.
As a midday refresh: Spray onto clean or made-up skin whenever you need a pick-me-up. The HOCl will kill any surface bacteria that have accumulated since your morning cleanse without disrupting your skin or makeup.
After exercise: Spray immediately after a workout to sanitise sweat-exposed skin and calm post-exercise redness. HOCl breaks down rapidly on contact with organic matter — it will not sting or irritate freshly exercised skin the way alcohol-based sprays do.
For acne-prone skin: Use morning and evening as part of your toner step. Consistent use helps reduce the C. acnes bacterial load that contributes to breakouts, while the anti-inflammatory properties of HOCl can reduce the redness and swelling of existing spots.
For eczema, rosacea and sensitive skin: Use as a calming mist on areas of flare-up. The 50ppm concentration is non-irritating to compromised skin. Patch test on the inner arm before first facial use.
Aqua Protego produces HOCl at two concentrations for different purposes. The surface cleaners (750ml, 1L, 5L, 20L) use 250ppm — the concentration required for effective hard surface disinfection. The face mist uses 50ppm — a lower, skin-validated concentration. Using 250ppm surface HOCl on your face daily is not recommended as it may cause dryness and irritation with repeated skin contact. Always use the 50ppm face mist for skincare applications.
